Customization settings I make on my Linux installs
I like to tweak my Linux desktop a bunch, here is a record of those changes
so I can replicate it onto another computer:
- Install KDE plasma
- Turn on translucency and wobbly windows
- Turn off mouse acceleration
- Set the theme to Breeze Dark
- Add some virtual desktops
- Add spacers to push the Icon-Only Task Manager to the center of the panel
- Set the panel to “Dodge Windows”
- Tweak power management settings
- On laptops, make sure to install
power-profiles-daemon - On desktops, set it to do pretty much nothing but lock the screen
- On laptops, make sure to install
- Install neovim, ruby, rake (
ruby-rake), git, and OpenSSH - Download my dotfiles and symlink them (run
rakein the checkout) - Configure systemd to pull environment variables from a different location
- Might need to symlink ~/.config and ~/.cache as well
- Install
