IPv6 is awesome

Funny words

IPv6 addresses are represented by chunks of up to 4 hexadecimal characters,
separated by colons. Here are a bunch of 4 letter words that can be made using
hexadecimal numbers:

Cox configuration

By default, OpenWRT will ask for a /64 but you can get more. I have been
successful in asking for a /56 prefix. Wonder if I can get a /48? Nope,
can’t. Seems like 56 is the highest. To be fair, that’s still 256 /64
networks. I don’t have that many hosts. (Yet? 😆)

Kubernetes

if you want to do ipv6 pods & services in kubernetes, remember this:

  1. you must specify a large enough subnet with capacity to of the pods you want to run, on each node
  2. the default subnet assigned to each node for their respective pods is a /64
  3. which means the defaults assume you’re assigning a whole /48 to the cluster
